Cocaine Addiction Help
|
|
The
most important thing to do at this
point if help is needed, is to get
educated. Not all rehabilitation
centers are created equally.
Different methods, different
philosophies, different locations
all can make for a successful
recovery or not.
It's important to know that drug
abuse is a symptom of an underlying
problem. Treating the symptoms only
would be a disservice to the addict.
Relapse could be just a stressful
situation away.
One thing is for certain, for a drug
addict, the dwindling spiral will
continue on its downward path unless
action is taken. NOW is the time to
do something before the addicted
person winds up in jail or dead of
an overdose or accident.
Unfortunately past failed attempts
to overcome addiction only further
depress the individual so it comes
as no surprise that fear and
hesitation.
In the state of Florida there is an
increased need for effective drug
and alcohol rehab and addiction
treatment centers as drug and
alcohol use continues to escalate.
Drug use erodes the quality of life
not only for the user, but for their
families and communities. Marriages
and families are torn apart by
mistrust, betrayal, fear and anger.
Careers are ruined; companies lose
millions of dollars in lost
production time; cities and suburbs
become degraded by the increased
crime and violence that goes with
drug trafficking and drug addiction.
From city to suburb to rural life,
drug and alcohol use and abuse
continues to undermine the quality
of life for Florida citizens. To do
nothing for the addict, should not
be an option. Something can be done;
help is available. For immediate
assistance, call (877) 340-3602.
Help is Possible.
The
United States Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA) reports that
cocaine is the primary drug threat
within Florida. Cocaine is smuggled
via a variety of conveyances, to
include commercial cargo vessel,
private pleasure craft, cargo and
passenger aircraft, and automobiles.
Cocaine originates from South
America and arrives in Florida
directly from those sources, or via
the U.S. Southwest Border with
Mexico. Recently there has been a
noted increase in Mexican
organizations transporting and
distributing large quantities of
cocaine from Mexico to as far south
as Palm Beach County. Cocaine
originating directly from South
American sources, as opposed to the
U.S. Southwest Border, is destined
for distribution to the eastern
United States and Canada. The DEA
Miami Field Division’s Nassau
Country is in a pivotal position in
that the Bahamas archipelago is a
major transportation route used by
trafficking organizations to smuggle
cocaine across the Caribbean
corridor via vessels, ranging from
go fast to sports fishing types.
Bimini is merely a short distance of
45 miles from the southeast Florida
coastline and Freeport lies 60 miles
from West Palm Beach.
After the cocaine is smuggled into
Florida, some is consumed locally
within Miami, but the majority is
destined for distribution to other
areas of the state and outside
Florida. A local market exists for
cocaine in the Fort Lauderdale and
West Palm Beach areas, but much is
designated for conversion into
crack. On the west coast of Florida,
Miami sources account for a portion
of the cocaine found from Naples to
the Tampa Bay area. Recently,
sources from Mexico are transporting
cocaine overland from the Southwest
Border states into the Tampa Bay
area. Cocaine is available in
northern Florida, primarily from
Mexican sources, but demand is
mainly for the conversion into
crack. Cocaine hydrochloride (HCl)
is available throughout Florida from
the gram to kilogram level.
According to the 2006 Interim
(January–June) Report of the Florida
Medical Examiners, Jacksonville had
the highest reported incidents of
cocaine-related deaths (119 total),
followed by West Palm Beach (90) and
Orlando (84).
Crack Cocaine: Miami remains the
primary source of cocaine HCl
procured by crack cocaine
trafficking organizations for
transport and conversion within
their areas. Mexican organizations
have especially made inroads in
north and central Florida. Drug
trafficking organizations dealing in
crack cocaine have been identified
in Orlando, Gainesville, Fort Myers,
Jacksonville, Fort Pierce and West
Palm Beach, thus demonstrating the
availability of crack throughout
Florida. Each of these areas has
organizations capable of conducting
crack cocaine conversion operations.
African American and Haitian
traffickers, as well as street gang
members, continue to dominate crack
distribution throughout Florida.
Distribution generally centers
around public housing developments
and inner city areas. Organizations
typically employ minors as lookouts
and runners, who re-supply the
street dealers from stash
locations.* |

The Damage to Society
In
the State of Florida, the
devastating effects of drug and
alcohol abuse goes way past the the
damage done to the addicts
themselves. In terms of time lost on
the job, to the Florida health
system inundated by illness and
overdoses to communities harmed by
the crime rate caused by addicts
looking to steal anything in order
to get their next fix, to families
living a nightmare as they watch
helplessly as their loved one goes
further down the chutes. The
rollercoaster of emotions, concern
and anger seems like a never ending
ride the abuser puts his friends and
family through. Failures in the past
with drug rehab centers further numb
the addict to any hope of a future
without drugs.
It truly can appear
hopeless and when the drug of choice
is heroin, friends and family can
become extremely desperate as the
next fix could certainly bring
death. It quickly becomes
self-evident there is a real need
for a
successful drug addiction treatment
program.

Choosing a Cocaine Drug Rehab and Addiction
Treatment Program
Just
in the state of Florida, there are
many different types of drug rehab
and treatment facilities. In the
United States, there are thousands
of drug rehab and treatment centers.
Of course the common goal of all
addiction treatment programs is to
help end addiction for the
individual. In Florida and across
the United States, a variety of
techniques and methods are being
used. Some of the well known
treatment methods in Florida include
the twelve step method, relapse
prevention, one-on-one counseling,
drug rehabilitation, behavioral
modification, cognitive therapy,
support groups, sober living,
therapeutic communities, AA , NA,
inpatient, and outpatient drug rehab
programs. There are many types of
treatment centers available in
Florida, so making a decision can be
difficult. Unfortunately, many
uninformed people in Florida go from
rehab to rehab looking for the one
that is right for them.
In Florida, there are many attempts
being made to meet the needs of drug
addicts, but statistics show success
rates to be dismally low. What is
needed and wanted is a drug
treatment which not only handles
physical addiction, but finds the
underlying reasons why a person
turns to drugs in order to free the
person forever. What Florida
addicts, alcoholics and their
family, friends and loved ones need
is a real and effective drug rehab
treatment center. One where they are
not on a time schedule or use other
drugs to get the addict off the
original drugs. The addict needs a
reliable proven program where when
they are done, their drug addiction
is a thing of the past and they are
now able to live full productive
lives free of the stronghold of
drugs or alcohol. |
