Georgia officials have seized over 1,000 kilograms of cocaine, which is second only to marijuana. Because of recent increases in the price of cocaine, those seizures are making an impact on the cocaine trade in the state of Georgia
In addition to the cocaine seizures, Georgia is sending most of the drug offenders in the state to drug courts. 43 drug courts were in operation, and 24 were in the process of becoming operational.
For those cocaine offenders who do not get sentenced to drug court, the prison system is the next stop for them. Over 67% of drug offenders in Georgia are incarcerated for a cocaine-related offense.

Cocaine addiction in Georgia
Cocaine and crack are still significant threats to the state of Georgia. One of the biggest reasons for the cocaine epidemic in Georgia is the influx of Hispanic immigrants that have recently come to the state. With the added Mexican population comes more drug traffickers.
Cocaine is brought into Georgia in a variety of ways. Some of the most popular ways to transport cocaine into Georgia are via private or rental vehicles, tractor-trailers, travel routes and counter-surveillance techniques. In addition to those smuggling tactics, drug trafficking organizations are now using shipments of fruits and vegetables to kide large quantities of cocaine.
