|
|

8,000 people in the state of North Dakota have abused cocaine in the last year. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health show that 12,000 North Dakota residents have had a drug abuse problem within the last year.

So while, methamphetamine is still considered more of a drug problem than cocaine, it is clear that enough people are abusing cocaine in the state of North Dakota that something needs to be done about it. It is important to realize that many people view cocaine as a party drug. It is widely believed that cocaine is a drug that will help you be more fun at a party, stay up later and drink more alcohol. While, at times, this may be true, cocaine is mostly a drug that will create an addict over night. |

Choosing a Drug Rehab and Addiction
Treatment Program
Often times when people figure out that their loved one is addicted to cocaine, they don't know what to do next. The most important thing to do is to act quickly. What makes cocaine so dangerous is the toll that it takes on the body. Because cocaine acts as a stimulant, the heart rate will increase, as well as the blood pressure and temperature of a cocaine addict. This means that addicts are prone to heart attacks ond overdoses, more so than other drug addicts.
Another unique manifestation of cocaine abuse is that addicts often suffer from paranoia and delusional thinking. This usually happens after massive amounts of the drug have been ingested, or if the addict has gone for several days abusing cocaine without a break. Professional drug counselors will be able to assist you with navagating through a cocaine addict's land mines. The only thing you have to do is call (877) 340 - 3602 |

Should a chronic drug
abuser attend a treatment program close
to home?
A common misconception among first time cocaine users is that cocaine is not addictive. While it may not be as physically addictive as alcohol or heroin, cocaine does cause pretty severe withdrawal symptoms in an individual. For the most part, the hardest part of coming off of cocaine are the extreme cravings that an addict will feel. Cravings are what causes an individual to steal, committ acts of violence and lie. This is all done in an attempt to obtaine more cocaine.
One of the best ways to tell if your loved one is addicted to cocaine is by taking note of some of the things around the addict. Cocaine is a type of drug that requires several different utensils in order to ingest it. Some of the paraphrenelia that one may be able to spot are: spoons, syringes, small plastic baggies with white residue, mirrors and razor blades, rolled up money, glass pipe (this is used for smoking crack cocaine) and straws. |
